Punkt.'s closeness with Japan was evident the day after the earthquake when its sales director anxiously reported that he had been about to reach Jasper Morrison who lives part of the year in Tokyo with his family. Morrison, together with Punkt.'s partnership with Seiko who manufactures the AC01, produced this simple variation of the AC01. Released on September 20th, 2011, the Japan clock is a beautiful tribute to the Japanese people in support of their rebuilding. Proceeds from the sale of this clock will be given to Project Maeami, a fishing village swept away by the tsunami that followed the earthquake which is being reconstructed by the non-profit, San Francisco based firm Architecture for Humanity.
Only 500 clocks of this limited edition were produced worldwide. The outer sleeve of the package is numbered. Priced at $ 246.00, which marks the local time when the earthquake struck (2:46 am) on March 11, 2011. Your support is greatly appreciated.
